| 17 DAY EAST AFRICAN EXPLORER |
| Nairobi to Dar Es Salaam |
Beginning in Kenya's lively capital, we begin this trip with one of the world's best know train journeys from Nairobi to Mombasa, which travels through Tsavo National Park. Once in Mombasa we have a few days to relax on the dazzling beaches, which have white sand and palm trees fringing an azure Indian Ocean. Then we head south into Tanzania and East Africa's best known game parks. The plains of the Serengeti are trampled by thousands of hoofed animals with the predators in their wake, while the Ngorongoro Crater is a World Heritage Site for its diversity of wildlife. On the coast we enjoy a few days on atmospheric Zanzibar with its crumbling Arabic architecture, Swahili culture and beautiful beaches. This is a perfect combination of wildlife watching and downtime on the beach.

The Serengeti is a 60,000 square kilometer savanna which lies over Tanzania and Kenya. The biannual migration that occurs there is considered one of the seven tourist travel wonders of the world. The region contains several national parks and game reserves. Its name is derived from the Maasai language and means "Endless Plains".
The Serengeti has more than 2 million herbivores and thousands of predators. Blue Wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and buffalos are the animals most commonly found in the region. |
