The Machame Route is known to be one of the prettiest routes used to trek Kilimanjaro. It is however a more difficult route than for example the Marangu route with steeper climbs and a constant higher altitude.
The route starts in thick rainforest sporadically opening up for excellent views of Mount Meru, Shire Ridge as well as the peak of Kilimanjaro itself - Kibo.
Climbers need to be fit and well prepared to take on this route. Accommodation is in mountain tents so nights can be cold.
