Botswana is a landlocked country in Southern Africa bordering on South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Botswana is geographically very flat and 70% of the country is made up of the Kalahari Desert. With only 2 million people living in Botswana it is one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world.
The economy is fuelled mainly by diamond mining and tourism. More than half of the country`s surface area is protected as game parks or conservation areas.

Botswana can be visited throughout the year, the winter months (June – September) are especially good for game viewing as these are the dry months and animals congregate around permanent water and the vegetation is at its sparsest. October and November are very hot months with day time temperatures hitting 40°C almost on a daily basis. December through March is the rainy season with afternoon thunder storms cooling down the summer heat.
