Malawi is a landlocked country and shares borders with Tanzania to the north, Zambia to the west and Mozambique to the east and south.
Malawi is most famous for Lake Malawi, the third largest lake in Africa and one of the Rift Valley lakes. It is a fresh water lake and is home to over 1000 species of cichlids, a fresh water fish that is caught for aquariums all over the world. Lake Malawi is about 587 km long and 84 km wide at the widest spot.

Malawi has a moderate temperature all year round. From November to April it is warm with equatorial rains and thunderstorms with March being the peak of the rainy season. From May to September it is dry and almost no rain falls during this time. So the best time to visit is between the months of May and September.
